Even as the High Court has directed the Administrators of Comunidades to direct the Attorneys to conduct inspection of illegal construction on comunidade property, questions are being raised in comunidade circles as to the remedy available if any unscrupulous attorney withholds information on illegal structures in their respective jurisdiction.
A president of a comunidade body told The Goan that the Court has made the attorney’s the sole authority to inspect the illegal constructions and submit the report to the Administrator.
“Just imagine a situation if the attorney in question withholds information on an illegal construction. It may turn out the attorney may withhold information if the constructions have come up during his reign as attorney of a particular comunidade. In such a situation, the ground reality may not reflect in the report submitted to the office of the Administrator of Comunidades”, sources added.
