Statement on regularisations another mode of creating vote banks: GFP

MARGAO

Asserting that government’s repeated statements to regularize illegal constructions may result in a conflict with the judiciary, Goa Forward chief Vijai Sardesai has on Tuesday said that statements on regularizations is another mode of creating vote banks in the state.

He further said that the government is instilling fear in the minds of people having illegal constructions and also promising to regularise them by bringing a law. “This is a typical formulae of vote bank politics. The government, it appears, is creating a situation wherein the swords of Damocles will hang over the people, sending a message to either vote for the BJP or face demolition of the illegal structures”, he added.

Questioning what message is the government trying to convey by making repeated statements promising regularization of illegal constructions, Sardesai asked “What is happening for the moment is not a conflict between the judiciary and the government. What is the vision for Goa. Is the government interested in the planned development of the state?”.
