Rider killed in bike-car collision at Betim

PORVORIM

A motorcycle rider died of injuries, while another was injured in a road mishap at Volant Betim late Friday night. According to Porvorim police, Paresh Naik (30) from Betim was proceeding towards Porvorim on his motorcycle along with pillion rider, Jayesh Mangela.

On reaching near Viva Goa Bar and Restaurant at Valant Betim, Paresh Naik collided with an oncoming car at a sharp curve at about 11.15 pm.

The impact was such that the rider, Paresh Naik, fell on the wind shield of the car and the pillion rider fell on the road and both of them sustained injuries.

The injured riders were shifted to Goa Medical College hospital at Bambolim for treatment, where Naik died while undergoing treatment. Jayesh Mangela was later discharged from hospital. Porvorim police have registered an offence under Sections 281,106(1), 125(a) of BNS 2023 and Head Constable Sandeep Ghodge is investigating the case under the guidance of Police Inspector Rahul Parab.
