CANACONA
A rider who was seriously injured in a road mishap between a truck and a scooter at Madditolop-Dapot in Maxem“Loliem on Monday died while undergoing treatment at the GMC hospital at Bambolim.
According to Canacona police, Mithalesh Manjhi, a native of Bihar but residing at Loliem was travelling along with two other riders, Dinanath Kumar and Ashik Manjhi, also from Bihar, on a scooter while they were proceeding from Canacona towards Polem.
A truck driven by Hussari Sab of Uttar Kannada struck the scooter from the rear, and all three riders were injured in the mishap.
All three injured riders after initially shifted to the Canacona Community Health Centre (CHC), before being moved to the district hospital at Margao. Mithalesh Manjhi, who had sustain serious head injuries was referred to the GMC hospital Bambolim, but later succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment.
Canacona police sent the body for an autopsy, and later handed it over to family members for fiunal rites.
Canacona police booked the truck driver Hussari Sab under Section 106 (1), 281 BNS 2023 and Canacona PSI Vishal Velip is investigating the case.
