Sanguem Independent MLA Prasad Gaonkar on Thursday met former union minister and AICC election incharge of Goa Congress P Chidambaram and expressed his willingness to join the Congress party.
“I have expressed my desire to join the Congress as it is a better alternative to fight the BJP. Now, the ball is in the court of the Congress on whether to accept me or not,” said Gaonkar.
Gaonkar had been with the BJP government in 2017, but later distanced himself from the government over some differences.
The Congress Party has received a boost with the arrival of Chidambaram in the State on Wednesday. Congress leaders have said more leaders are expected to join the party in the next few days.
