Sardinha ducks question on Goa Forward stance

MARGAO
South Goa MP and strong contender for the Congress ticket, Francisco Sardinha on Wednesday exuded confidence that the people who have supported him in the past will vote for him in the 2024 polls if the party nominates him for the coming election.

Sardinha told the media that he did not want to go into the question of whether the Goa Forward party will support him in the coming election, saying it is for the party leadership to comment. He, however, hastened to point out that he had polled around 10,961 votes from the Fatorda segment in the 2019 LS election as against 9,600 votes polled in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.

“The people of South Goa know me and they have voted me to parliament on four occasions. If given the ticket, I will contest the coming polls and I am confident that the people will stand by me and re-elect me for the fifth time,” he added.
