Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has requested people to bear inconveniences caused in commuting due to development works in the State.
Sawant was speaking after launching development works in Neura on Wednesday in the presence of St Andre MLA Francisco Silveira, ZP member Dhaku Madkaikar, sarpanchas, panchas and others.
“Many development works are in progress, be it the construction of international airport or construction of highways. If we want development, we will have to bear some inconvenience too,” Sawant said.
“The government intends to complete the construction work of the highway as early as possible to provide the much-needed relief in commuting,” he added.
The chief minister’s statement comes against the backdrop of traffic jams being witnessed in the State, especially along the Siridao-Cortalim stretch of the highway. Some political parties have also criticised the government for its failure to post traffic personnel to regulate traffic caught up in the jams.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Silveira thanked the CM for extending his cooperation for infrastructural development in his constituency.

St Andre Congress leader Tony Fernandes has demanded an immediate solution to the traffic jams plaguing the entire stretch between Siridao and Agassaim.
“It is very important that officials concerned come out with a solution to the traffic problem. Today, Ven Agnelo's Novena started in Pilar and very soon, the Novena of St Francis Xavier will also begin in Old Goa, which will add to traffic woes,” Fernandes opined.
“If the government wants, it can come out with a solution but it appears they are least bothered,” he charged.
