A scooter accident in Chapora, Anjuna left one rider with serious injuries on November 23, prompting police to register a case of rash and negligent driving against the accused.
According to the Anjuna Police, the incident occurred at approximately 7.05 PM near the Parra-Verla-Canca Urban Co-operative Credit Society.
The accused, identified as Devesh Palyekar (21), a resident of Dabholwado, Anjuna, was riding a Yamaha Fasino scooter in the direction of Chapora Vagator when he allegedly struck another Yamaha Fasino scooter from behind.
The second scooter, driven by Jugal Divkar (27) of Arpora, was proceeding in the same direction. The impact of the collision caused Divkar to sustain a fracture in his right leg.
The police have filed a case under sections 281 and 125 (B) of the BNS and the Motor Vehicles Act based on a state complaint by Head Constable Rajan Patil of the Anjuna Police Station.
The accused has been charged with rash and negligent driving.
Further investigation into the incident is ongoing.
