Senior officials can now appoint muster roll peons at their homes

PANAJI

The State government on Tuesday issued an order entitling various categories of senior officers to appoint Muster Roll Peons at their residences. 

As per the order approved by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant (who is also the Finance Minister), the Chief Secretary is entitled to appoint three Group C staff and/or Multi-Tasking Staff while the Secretaries in their super time scale can appoint two staff. 

The other category of officers comprising Secretaries, Special Secretaries, Additional Secretaries, Joint Secretaries, and Additional Joint Secretaries to the government; IAS officers of senior time scale and Group A Goa Civil Service officers in Senior Scale above are entitled to one Muster Roll Peon each.

The government has also asked the officers to not keep peons in excess of the yardstick listed in the order. 

“Each individual officer shall have the right to select his/her own choice of Muster Roll Peon and the salary will be dedicated from respective department/autonomous body head in which the officers are posted,” the order approved by Sawant says. 

In another order, the government has issued revised notification regarding time frame to be followed under ‘Right of citizens to time-bound delivery of public services’ Act.
