Sewerage works in Fatorda to be complete in 2025: Vijai

MARGAO
Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai on Monday said the North main trunk sewerage line and other sewerage works in the Fatorda constituency will be completed by the 2025 financial year.

He said the sewerage works estimated at around Rs 300 crore would finally give relief to the people, especially the farmers cultivating paddy and vegetables in the constituency. He was briefing the media after holding a monsoon-preparedness meeting with officials of various agencies including the electricity department, PWD, water supply, traffic police, Margao Municipal Council etc.

"The North Main Sewerage line was approved by the government after I joined hands with BJP leader late Manohar Parrikar to form the government in 2017. Work has been delayed no doubt, but once completed and commissioned, it will give relief to the people of Fatorda,” he said.

Taking a review of the various projects, Sardesai said the Fatorda sub-station will be set up on the MMC-acquired land opposite Sonsodo waste dump. He requested the people of Raia to support the proposal saying the sub-station would help both the people of Fatorda and Raia.

On the business activities of fast food kiosks opposite the KTC bus stand, the Fatorda MLA has directed the Margao Municipal Council and the police to stop the activity by 11 pm as per the licence conditions. “We have reports that these kiosks stay open till late at night and cause anti-social activity since people coming from parties stop there. I have told the MMC and police to stop the activity by 11 pm,” he said.

The Fatorda MLA has told the traffic police to rein in the rent-a-cars and bikes parked in open spaces and roadsides meant for public parking. “I have also told the police to tow away vehicles parked on the roads in Fatorda,” he added.
