Shigmo parade in Calangute on March 27

A Shigmo parade organised by the Calangute Shigmostav Samiti in association with Tourism Department, Calangute Panchayat and Sri Shantadurga Sansthan Panchayat will be held on March 27 from 4 pm onwards.

The parade will begin from Sri Muralidhar Mandap in Naikawada and will culminate at Sri Shantadurga Mandir. The programme will consist of traditional Romatamel, Chitrarath, folk dance, costumes, music and entertainment.

In the Romatamel and Chitrarath categories, cash prizes of Rs 60,000 (first), Rs 40,000 (second), Rs 30,000 (third), Rs 25,000 (fourth), Rs 20,000 (fifth) and seven consolation prizes of Rs 10,000 each will be awarded to the winners.

In the folk dance competition, cash prizes of Rs 25,000, Rs 15,000, Rs 12,000, Rs 10,000, Rs 8000 and Rs 5,000 will be awarded to the winners.

In the costume (junior and senior group) and Rangoli competition, cash prizes of Rs 5,000, Rs 4,000, Rs 3,000, Rs 2,000, Rs 1,500 and Rs 1,000 respectively will be awarded to the winners.

The Committee President Laxman Parab, Secretary Sudesh Shirodkar and Treasurer Nitesh Tuyekar have appealed to contestants to participate in large numbers.
