Goa Forward Party Supremo Vijay Sardessai expressed shock over the resignation of the party’s working president Kiran Kandolkar, stating that the move by the experienced leader to leave the party was unexpected.
"Kandolkar’s exit from the party has been shocking and it was unexpected,” said Sardessai.
While stating he always had good relations with Kandolkar, Sardessai said Kandolkar may have decided to quit over apprehensions about the status of him and his wife in alliance politics.
"He seems to have had doubts that he and his wife would not get the ticket if we had an alliance. If he had talked with me before taking the decision to quit the party, I would have persuaded him (not to leave the party). Now, it is too late and I wish him best luck,” said Sardessai.
Sardessai, however, said the situation of leaders changing parties is bound to happen with the arrival of new parties.
While respecting Kandolkar’s political wisdom, Sardessai said: “He is an experienced politician and must have given due thought before taking a decision.”
“I would like to assure other party colleagues that tickets to all winnable candidates in the alliance will not be denied,” said Sardessai.
