The government of Goa is working towards vaccinating all by July 30 and various measures are being undertaken to achieve this target.
The emphasis was given on administering the second dose of vaccine to those who have completed 84 days and ‘Tika Utsavs’ were held across the State at multiple vaccination centres.
Tika Utsav 1.2 that kickstarted from July 5 will focus on the second dose. In general, all persons above 18 years of age were allowed to walk in and get either their first or second dose during this drive at any of the venues. As a result of this extensive drive, on Tuesday (July 6), the government achieved a milestone of administering 10 lakh plus doses in Goa.
On this day, the figures till 5.30 pm reveal that the partially vaccinated people (first dose) were 7,26,636. The total doses used were 7,26,636. On the same day (July 6) by 5.30 pm the number of fully vaccinated (those who took first and second jab) was 1,40,094 and the doses that were used were 2,80,188. With this, the total doses administered on July 6 by 5.30 pm were 10,06,824. The total doses allowed to the state by the government of India are 11,48,460. Now the vaccine stock balance available with the State as of July 6 (9 am) was 2,13,430 doses.
The total doses administered at permanent centres (first dose) were 8,502 and the second dose was 3,490. The total doses administered at Tika Utsav were (first dose) 873 and (second dose) 1,047. The backlog of July 5 at permanent centres and Tika Utsav (first dose) was 2,535 and (second dose) 2,295. With this, the total beneficiaries vaccinated on July 6 by 5.30 pm are 18,742. The State is marching towards completing its target of vaccinating every person in the State by the end of this month.
