Goa’s Good and Services Tax (GST) revenue has stood at Rs 420 crore for October 2022, an increase of 32 per cent compared to the GST collected in October 2021 when the collection was recorded at Rs 317 crore.
Goa is among four States to record growth of over 30 per cent while Ladakh is the highest with a 74 per cent rise in GST collection.
Panchayats Minister Mauvin Godinho who also represents Goa at GST council said that it was a healthy trend and good days were in store for for the State.
"I think that things never expected are happening today showing all round development and inclusive growth and it is a very happy moment for Goa that our collection has increased by 32%”, he said.
He went on to add that this will go a long way in we shoring up our finances and resulting in over all good days for the State in the form of revenue collection and revenue spending for various infrastructure works.
The Ministry of Finance released the data on Tuesday that indicates an overall Rs 1,51,718 crore gross GST revenue collection for October 2022. This is the second-highest collection ever, next only to the collection in April 2022.
It further states that the total GST collection comprises Rs 26,039 crore CGST, Rs 33,396 crore SGST, Rs 81,778 crore IGST (including Rs 37,297 crore collected on import of goods), and Cess of Rs 10,505 crore (including Rs 825 crore collected on import of goods), which is second highest till date.
October also saw the second-highest collection from domestic transactions, next only to April 2022. This is the ninth month and for eight months in a row now, that the monthly GST revenues have been more than the Rs 1.4 lakh crore mark. During September 2022, Rs 8.3 crore e-way bills were generated, which was significantly higher than Rs 7.7 crore e-way bills generated in August 2022.
