Condemning the government’s decision to grant NOC for double-tracking work at Chandor railway crossing on November 2 on All Souls Day, Goa Forward has warned the government as well as the Railways to either stop all ongoing work on the double-tracking project or face the wrath of the people of Goa.
Party spokesperson Prashant Naik said the government is so insensitive that it has given permission to the Railways to lay the double track at the Chandor railway crossing on November 2, a holy and auspicious day for the Christian brethren.
Addressing the media, Prashant warned the government and the Railways not to take the people for granted, reminding that Goans had brought movement of Railways in the State to a complete halt during the Konkani language agitation. “If the government tries to bulldoze with the project with police protection and by suppressing the voice of the people, both the government and the Railways will have to pay a big price,” he warned.
The Goa Forward spokesman pointed out that people’s court will decide whether the Railway Act or the people’s power is supreme. “If the Railways try to bulldoze with the project by invoking the Railways Act, the people of Goa will show you their power to show the world that people’s power will rule in Goa,” he added.
Extending the party’s full support to the ongoing agitation against the double-tracking project, Prashant said Goa Forward rank and file will descend at the Chandor railway crossing on November 2 with all its might and power to stop the double-tracking work. “Our party leaders and workers will work shoulder to shoulder with the NGOs, activists and organisations opposing the double-tracking project. The Railways should not think that Goemkars are sussegad people. We will not take things lying down,” he warned.
Questioning South Goa Collector’s decision to grant NOC to the Railways to lay the double track at Chandor railway crossing on November 2 on All Souls Day, Prashant demanded to know whether the Collector’s decision has got the approval of Ministers Filipe Neri Rodrigues and Jennifer Rodrigues and MLAs Clafacio Dias, Wilfred D’Sa, Francis Silveira, Tony Fernandes and Babush Monserrate. “Are the people to assume that the Collector’s decision has the support of these MLAs,” he demanded.
