Student assault: Minister demands suspension of police

Panaji:  Fisheries Minister, Nilkant Halarnkar expressed complete displeasure the manner in which police handled the Student assault case and demanded suspension of the cops handling the case.

Halarnkar raised suspicions that the police might have been under pressure, which led them to mishandle the situation.

The minister warned that if justice is not served, he is prepared to lead public protests to ensure accountability.

"I am here to serve the people who elected me, and I will make sure the police officials involved are suspended," he said.

He accused former local Sarpanch for trying to settle the matter privately with the boy's father.
