The inaugural ceremony of the 37th National Games at Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda will have an impressive attendance of students from 150 schools in the State. Besides schools from the South District such as Quepem, Canacona, Margao, etc; several schools from Tiswadi and Bicholim in North Goa are also selected to be a part of the mega event on October 26.
A circular issued by Education Director Shailesh Zingade on Friday specifies that heads of the respective institutions should depute 30 students and two teachers from each school.
“There has been an overwhelming response from the schools across the State to witness the inauguration ceremony of 37th National Games 2023 to be held on October 26….The first 150 schools have been considered to attend the event. Heads of all the schools are hereby requested to depute 30 students and 2 teachers to attend the inauguration ceremony,” it states.
The department recorded the registration of over 200 schools for the inauguration. Considering this interest shown by the schools, the department decided to allow students to attend all the sporting events including the inauguration, except athletics near water bodies.
