In a late-night raid, Calangute Police registered a case against three individuals for allegedly operating an illegal betting racket during the T-20 IPL cricket match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Gujarat Titans on Tuesday.
The operation was carried out between 12.35 am and 2.45 am at Flat No. 203, Arsh's Nest, Saldana Kayle Garden, Baga in Calangute.
Authorities seized a laptop and seven mobile phones, with the total value of seized items estimated at approximately Rs 1.1 lakh.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Ankit Rathore (34), a resident of Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh; Badal (32) and Ajay (32), both from Sagar, Madhya Pradesh.
The trio has been booked under Sections 3 and 4 of the Goa, Daman, and Diu Public Gambling Act (GDDPG Act).
Further investigation is currently underway under the supervision of Calangute PI Paresh Naik and SDPO Vishwesh Karpe, with overall guidance from SP North, Akshat Kaushal (IPS).
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to cracking down on illegal gambling operations in the region.
