Three-day 'Chovoth Bazaar’for locals set up at Chaudi

Supporting local self-help groups and promoting women empowerment, ‘Chovoth Bazaar’-- a common place where all the Ganesh Chaturthi requirements needed by the celebrants especially the matoli ingredients has been opened at the commercial hub -- Chaudi.

The Chovoth Bazaar which will remain open for 3 days will be providing convenience to avail the Chaturthi needs while uplifting the local community and fostering entrepreneurship was thrown open at the hands of Speaker and Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar on Thursday morning.

The bazaar with participation of local people including Self-Help Groups are selling their produce and wild-fruits including various various items used for ‘Matoli’ will remain open for purchases at the annual 3-day event at KTC Bus-Stand complex at Chaudi from Thursday to Saturday.

Most of the hill-growers belonging to ST community and members of SHGs have brought the various items grown by them in hills, besides the different Matoli items picked-up and collected from forests to be sold at the bazaar.

Tawadkar inaugurated the Chovoth Bazaar in the presence of Canacona Municipal Council Chairperson Sara Samba Naik Desai and others.

Chaudi councillor Ramakant Naik Gaonkar, besides sarpanch Anandu Desai (Khotigao), , Canacona BJP mandal President Vishal Desai, Vice-President Shaba Naik GaunkarGeneral secretary Divakar Pagi, Mahesh Naik were also present amongst others.
