Highlighting the failure of the BJP government both at the Centre as well as the state, TMC yet again ripped into BJP manifesto 2022.
Leading the charge, TMC National Vice-President Pavan Varma called it a ‘document of ‘Vishwasghat’ (betrayal). The statement was made at a press conference in the presence of Goa TMC Vice-President Rajendra Kakodkar and Goa TMC Mahila Wing President Avita Bandodkar at the party office in Panaji.
Picking holes into the manifesto point by point, Pavan Varma said, “The reason why BJP is the last one to come out with a manifesto is that they were finding it hard to come out with another set of promises that they can’t keep, since they failed at all their previous ones.” He added, “The people of Goa are well aware that BJP’s promise is always followed by paralysis. The BJP’s manifesto for Goa is a document full of hollow promises.”
Reminding Goenkars of the misrule under Pramod Sawant, Pavan Varma said, “After five years of BJP rule here, there’s a debt of Rs 1.5 lakh on every Goan, 16,000 MSMEs have shut down, 1 in 4 Goan youth is unemployed. In fact 50% of the 32,000 physically challenged people are yet to receive their monthly allowance.”
Reiterating how BJP’s double engine Sarkar was a double whammy for Goenkars, Rajendra Kakodkar said, “BJP failed to control rising fuel prices. They failed to provide houses to cyclone-hit families. They failed to deliver on jobs. They failed to keep food prices and inflation in check. All their promises remain unfulfilled. How can anyone vote for them?”
Expressing her anguish at the depleting state of sports infrastructure, Avita Bandodkar said, “The BJP Government has slashed funds allocated to the sports department, rather they are using all their money in advertisements. They had promised to renovate the Babusaheb Bandodkar stadium, how come they’ve forgotten all about it now?”
