Police has arrested three persons in connection with the murder of a 48-year-old trawler operator at Malim Jetty and are on the lookout for three others.
Police informed that on the intervening night of December 1 and 2, six accused were having drinks at Malim Jetty, when the deceased, Ankush Kirve of Satara-Maharashtra, reached the spot.
A quarrel broke out between the six accused and the deceased. The accused are alleged to have assaulted the deceased with glass bottles and fish crates and later threw him in the river. Kirve drowned in the river.
During post-mortem, it was revealed that the deceased was assaulted prior to drowning and police identified six accused linked to the murder.
Police have registered a case against the six accused under Sections 143, 147, 148, 324, 302 and 201 of Indian Penal code. Three of the accused were arrested on Monday. Police Inspector Ninad Deulkar is conducting further investigations into the case.
