The Colvale police on Thursday achieved a breakthrough in a housebreaking theft case at Revora with the arrest of a migrant and recovery of stolen gold worth Rs 10 lakh.
The accused, a native of Uttar Pradesh, has been arrested as the police claimed to have solved the case within 24 hours.
Quoting complainant Vinod Lokre's complaint, SDPO Mapusa Jivba Dalvi said that the incident occurred between 10.30 am and 11 am on Wednesday when unknown person/s forcibly entered the house by breaking the rear door. "The thief made away with his gold ornaments and Rs 1500 in cash, from the almirah," the officer said.
The police, acting swiftly to the complaint, sealed the entry and exit points of Revora village and rounded up all the migrants residing there. Dalvi said that a suspect, identified as Sudhir Singh, aged 23, was apprehended, and he subsequently confessed to committing the crime.
Among the recovered items were various gold articles, including bangles, necklaces, chains, mangalsutra, finger rings, and five pairs of earrings.
