MARGAO
The mystery surrounding the restaurant proposal in Margao Municipal Council’s multilevel parking project has further deepened with the Director, Urban Development, Gurudas Pilarnekar saying he has no idea how the restaurant proposal cropped in the project.
Pilarnekar’s statement assumes significance and comes against the backdrop of the fact that the Margao Municipal Council has taken a firm stand that the civic body had never proposed a restaurant in the multilevel parking project.
Incumbent MMC Chairperson Damu Shirodkar and his predecessor Ganashyam Shirodkar and Lyndon Pereira were categorical in clarifying that the restaurant proposal was never discussed at any of the Council meetings chaired by them during their stint in office.
In fact, incumbent Chairperson Damu has made it clear that any proposal, including the mysterious restaurant proposal, should come before the Council meeting for discussion and deliberation, before taking any decision.
When The Goan called up Director, Urban Development Pilarnkar to shed light on the mysterious restaurant proposal in the multilevel parking lot when the MMC had never proposed such a proposal, he was quick in saying that he has no idea how the restaurant has been proposed in the project.
“I have no idea how the restaurant proposal has come in the picture. May be it came up when the project was being finalized by the High Powered committee”, he said.
Pilarnekar, however, agreed that the restaurant, if it becomes a reality, will take sizeable space in the parking lot, reducing the parking slots for the public at large.
