VASCO
Ularico Rodrigues has resigned as the block president with an aim to be eligible for the Congress ticket from Vasco for the upcoming assembly elections.
Speaking to reporters, Rodrigues said his resignation as the block president had been accepted and there was no block president for Vasco as of now.
“If we recall, AICC election observer for Goa P Chidambaram during a meeting with active workers in Vasco had said that block presidents would not be given tickets. In view of that, I have submitted my resignation, so that there is no hurdle in the way of considering my candidature for the Congress ticket from Vasco.”
“I am definitely in the race for the party ticket and I am also the only person to qualify for all the criteria laid down by the party for candidates. Therefore, there should not be any dispute that I will be the only candidate from Vasco. My requirements have been furnished to high command on writing and they are fully aware of it,” he said.
