The Aam Aadmi Party Velim MLA, Cruz Silva visited Sao Jose de Areal Village Panchayat recently and held a meeting with outgoing Sarpanch Minguel Gomes and ward members.
During the meeting, Silva had a detailed discussion on concerns affecting the community, including waste management, power supply, health facilities, Balwadis, Panchayat ghar construction, football field development, and hot-mixing of roads.
Following the discussion, Silva told the wards that he would handle all of their concerns. He also promised a joint inspection with panchayat members and officials from several departments the next week.
The Velim MLA recently claimed that people see sub-standard work on roads and other development initiatives as a result of the commission. He said, “Today we know that lot of development works are pending even after the work is being tendered. Contractors are saying we do not have money, we have paid commission.”
Cruz added: “As a result, the AAP is taking steps to abolish the commission system by adopting commission free governance, ensuring that the notion of the commission is forever closed and that quality, time-bound work is given to tax payers. Not only will people profit, but the government will benefit monetarily as well.”
