Waive off sound restrictions for Shigmo parades, GFP writes to CEO

MARGAO
The Goa Forward Party has written to the Chief Electoral Officer Goa, urging it to waive off the sound pollution curbs during the ensuing Shigmotsav celebrations across the State.

Saying the BJP government should have moved the CEO’s office for relaxation of the sound pollution norms for the ensuing Shigmotav float parades, Goa Forward Chief Vijai Sardesai said the government is more interested in "political carnival" instead of keeping alive the cultural heritage of the State.

Speaking to the media, Sardesai said the government is silent on the concerns raised by the organisers and participating troupes of the Shigmotsav parades that the sound curbs at 10 pm would play a spoilsport in the cultural extravaganza during the parades.

“I fail to understand the silence of the government on the issue when it has allowed night parties at Anjuna and other areas. Sometimes, we raise questions about the status of Bharatiya culture and where it has reached. Hence, we have written to the office of the CEO to give sound relaxation during the Shigmo parades,” he said.

Sardesai reminded that the Goa government was forced to declare a holiday on Ram Navami after he had raised the issue on the floor of the House.
