A 200 mm water pipe burst at the Green Park Junction in Guirim, leading to the wastage of vast amounts of water.
The underground pipeline which supplies water to Xel-Bastora and Paliem-Ucassaim areas, suddenly ruptured on Friday night.
The PWD water supply section was alerted of the damage on Saturday morning. By then, a vast amount of water gushed out from the ruptured pipeline and flowed from the road and into the fields in the area.
Officials of the PWD rushed to the spot on Friday morning and inspected the damage. A contractor was summoned to the site and the pipeline was repaired in the afternoon. PWD officials said water supply would be restored to Xel-Bastora and Paliem-Ucassaim areas at the earliest.
