With the possibility of the Assembly session getting curtailed, the Congress on Monday held a meeting of its Legislative wing and decided to take on the government in the upcoming Assembly session.The Congress Legislature Party condemned the move to omit OBC from the reservation in the panchayat elections and passed a strong resolution against the move at the meeting.
“The BJP is asking for the votes of the OBC but throwing them out from contesting an election. This is not done. This is totally unfair,” said Carlos Ferreira, Congress MLA while addressing the media after the CLP meeting.
Ferreira also said that the party will oppose any move to curtail the Assembly session.
“We had certain questions lined up and if the session is cut then we will lose that opportunity to corner the government,” he said.
He further said that the party has run through the governor’s address and will take on the government on issues that matter.
“Topic by topic we have identified certain areas right from police and PSI recruitment. We are confident that we will be able to corner the government,” the Aldona MLA said.
He said the government has been promising to resume mining at every election but so far nothing has materialised.
Congress Party President Amit Patkar also hoped that the assembly session will not be curtailed.
“The BJP strategy is if you can’t convince then confuse the people. We demand that full session goes on so that people's problems can be highlighted,” he said.
