Minister for Archives Subhash Phaldessai warned that he won’t shy away from cracking the whip against those who were trying to grab government land and doing illegal business near the Chapora Fort.
“Which ever department I am handling...I am tough enough...We want to save our government land. We will not allow anybody to destroy the beauty of the fort. We will take action wherever necessary,” Phaldessai said.
“I am a very tough person. I may be accidentally a politician. But basically, I am an administrator,” he added.
The minister was upset with unauthorised vendors and some others who were carrying out illegal business in the fort area.
Phaldessai said that so far, many people were doing business in the area but were not paying a single paise to anyone.
“I am told that a single owner has built 10 shops and he is renting it out for Rs 10,000 each. Whose property is it? We will not entertain this anymore,” he warned.
