MARGAO
Will the agitation by BJP leaders against illegal road side vendors pitch the BJP against the BJP in the commercial capital, more so when the Margao Municipality is ruled by the BJP and Congress-turned-BJP MLA Digambar Kamat?
Or, how will the “hidden hand” react to the demand by the BJP leaders to put a stop to the road side vending when it is an open fact that these vendors have been doing business with patronage of politicians?
A fortnight ago, former deputy Chief Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar had led a morcha of Gandhi market vendors to the Margao Municipal to demand action against the mushrooming of illegal road side vendors across the city. In fact, Ajgaonkar had warned MMC Civic Chief Damu Shirodkar to initiate action without any fear or favour by not succumbing to political pressure.
