PANAJI
PWD Minister Deepak Prabhu Pauskar on Monday said he would quit politics if allegations were proven into the recruitment scam in the PWD."A three-member vigilance committee is conducting an inquiry in the alleged scam and if the allegations are proved, I will retire from politics,” said Pauskar, while speaking to media persons.
Insisting there is no proof whatsoever about the job scam, Pauskar challenged the MLAs who had made the allegations into the recruitment process to place evidence supporting their allegations before the vigilance committee.
Panaji’s BJP MLA Babush Monserrate has continued to make allegations in the recruitment scam, claiming that the scam was to the tune of Rs 70 crore.
The allegations pertain to 368 jobs of junior engineers which are being filled in the PWD.
Pauskar claimed that candidates who have been given offer letters would get their posting once the inquiry committee comes out with its report.
Asked about the fate of the recruitment process into the remaining posts once the elections are declared, a confident Pauskar said: “The process will continue as the BJP will form the next government.”
He also expressed confidence that he would be again chosen as the BJP candidate in Sanvordem constituency.
