Withdraw cess on raw cashew: CII

Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Goa Council, has urged the State government that the reintroduced 1% cess on procurement of raw cashew in the State be withdrawn as it will defeat the purpose of the amendments to the APMC Act and also make trade unattractive.

“Cashew processing will be made unviable in Goa as...Maharashtra and Karnataka have negligible or no such charges,” CII Goa said.

The State government had reintroduced cess via an amendment in the Act in the recent monsoon session of the legislature.
