A woman from Sanquelim has accused her husband and his family, originally from Tamil Nadu of domestic violence while she was living in her marital home in Dubai. The victim, Kaymat Garu claimed she was even forcibly evicted from there and subsequently flew back to her parents’ place for filing a police complaint.
As per the FIR registered by the Bicholim police, the accused -- Shaikh Mohammad Gouth (husband), Shaikh Sultan Abdul Shaikh (sister-in-law) and Ibrahim Syed Thauseef (brother-in-law) are charged with subjecting the woman complainant to cruelty “by keeping her without food and torturing her in all possible manner by assaulting her on multiple occasions, abused her in filthy words and drove her out of her matrimonial house.”
The FIR, registered under relevant sections of IPC, also states that she was threatened with consequences if she returned to their house. Bicholim police said they would connect with the Embassy and the Dubai police, through proper channels, to establish contact with the accused. “If required, their custody will also be taken by following due process of law,” an officer said.
