Woman robbed of gold ornaments at Porvorim

Two men posing as policemen cheated a woman of her gold ornaments worth Rs 4 lakhs at Porvorim on Tuesday at 8 am. A mangalsutra and two gold bangles were stolen.

A resident of Aradi, Soccorro  S Kulkarni  has filed a complaint with Porvorim Police stating that the incident occured as she was walking towards her office located at Defence Colony in the morning on May 31 .

Upon  reaching Nexa showroom two persons on motorbike stopped her and told her that they are policemen . They told her that several thefts have occurred in Porvorim in recent times and hence women should not walk on the road wearing gold ornaments. They advised her to remove her gold ornaments. They collected the mangalsutra and two gold bangles in a piece of paper and kept the same in her purse. 

No sooner the said accused persons left the spot, Kulkarni searched for the ornaments in the purse. She was shocked to note that the gold ornaments were missing. She rushed to the Porvorim Police station immediately and registered the complaint.

Police have registered an offence under section 170,356 and 379 of IPC. Police Sub Inspector Pramila Fernandes is investigating.
