The work to improve and hotmix the MDR49 road between Agonda and Char Rasta began in Agonda on Thursday.
Sports Minister and Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar launched the work in the presence of Agonda Sarpanch Nilesh Pagui, Dy Sarpanch Karuna Faldessai, panch members Ramnath Velip, Panch and ex-sarpanch Fatima Rodrigues, panchayat Secretary Amol Naik Gaonkar, social worker Estev Rodrigues, the contractor and villagers.
‘The road was in poor condition, causing enormous difficulties for residents and tourists alike. This project will bring much-needed relief, ensuring safer, smoother, and faster travel with modern hot mix road construction, stated Tawadkar soon after the launch ceremony.
Agonda Sarpanch Nilesh Pagui also spoke on the occasion.
According to sources, the heavily potholed road will initially be taken-up for improvement including the levelling of potholes and will be hotmixed after rains subside.
