Mapusa police arrested a youth from Uttarakhand who was found roaming suspiciously near the gate of a college in Mapusa and trying to interact with female students.
Rohit Pandey (35) was seen near the gate of the college at 2 pm on two consecutive occasions and trying to interact with female students coming out of the college.
The security guard at the gate noticed this and informed the principal of the college. The principal immediately wrote to the police, reporting the matter and requesting intervention for the safety of students.
Acting on the letter, Mapusa police kept watch in the college premises. When the suspected youth was again seen near the college ground trying to talk to some students, some parents suddenly confronted him on his purpose for roaming around the college premises.
The youth claimed that he had come to watch a football match. The parents caught and thrashed him, before handing him to the police. The police brought him to the police station and arrested him under Section 41 of the CrPC.
Police was informed that the suspect had worked in a resort at Arpora and had resigned from the job two days ago. Mapusa PI Ashish Parab is investigating the matter.
