Economic Development Corporation (EDC) Chairman and BJP State President Sadanand Shet Tanaude has advised unemployed youth to pursue business activities by availing of various schemes offered by the corporation.
He was addressing a gathering in Socorro after inaugurating a restaurant set up by a local youth, Mayur Prabhu, through the Chief Minister's Rojgar Yojana (CMRY) of EDC.
“It is not possible for the State government to provide jobs to all unemployed youth and they should avail of schemes devised by EDC to pursue business activities,” said Tanavade.
“The CMRY is the best scheme for youth to start medium-sizes business activities like restaurants, engineering units, etc. This scheme is available for educated unemployed youth and those residing in Goa for over 15 years. Applications under this schemes are processed fast.”
Commending Prabhu for opening his restaurant under this scheme during the Covid pandemic, Tanavade said the EDC would organise camps to popularise the CMRY.
The restaurant owner, Mayur Prabhu, said he had projected his restaurant at a cost of Rs 15 lakh and was sanctioned a loan of Rs 12 lakh.
“I received good support from the EDC and my loan was processed within 2 months. Other youths should also avail of this CMRY and start their own business activities,” said Prabhu.
Others present at the event included Socorro Panch Sheetal Arokar and Porvorim BJP Block member Kishor Asnodkar.
