‘Can resolve water issues in Pernem if land available for tanks in Chandel’

PWD Minister Nilesh Cabral on Monday said the water scarcity issues in Pernem Taluka can be resolved within a year if people are willing to spare their land to build water tanks for the Chandel Water Treatment Plant.

With water scarcity affecting various parts of Pernem taluka and both MLAs confronted by unhappy people, PWD minister Nilesh Cabral visited the Chandel water treatment plant to review the situation.

He was accompanied by Mandrem MLA Jit Arolkar, Pernem MLA Pravin Arlekar, panchayat members and water supply officials.

Speaking to local panchayat members, Cabral said the extended water project at Chandel would be completed in May.

“If land is made available for the tanks, I will solve the water issue within a year,” said Cabral.

He discussed the water scarcity issue with officers in the presence of Sarpanch Tulshidas Gawas, Gauri Josalkar, Navnath Naik, Prarthana Mote and Subodh Mahale.
