VASCO
Mormugao Councillor Shami Salkar has emphasised the need for work on the Vasco cross drain to avoid flooding in parts of the city.
“Vasco had been flooded during monsoons last year and we realised the need to rebuild cross drains and we have put up a proposal for this project,” said Salkar.
“I have stressed that work on the Vasco cross drain needs to be completed to avoid flooding in Vasco.”
“The second point I raised at the MMC meeting was regarding beautification of dark spots, some of which I have cleared in the city using private participation. A few more dark spots are remaining which also needs to be cleared soon, especially near the fish market, Khalap Mansion and Vasco steel traders," said Salkar.
Salkar said trimming of branches would be a part of pre-monsoons works to would be taken up soon.
"We will take up pruning of trees in the entire municipality and we have already requested all councillors to identify dangerous trees in their ward so that our work becomes easy. We will take up these issues during our next MMC meet on March 30," said Salkar.
