CANACONA
A man from Shrishthal-Canacona was killed when he was knocked down by a truck on the Canacona bypass at Bhaireliwada-Canacona in the wee hours of Thursday.
According to reports, the incident took place at about 2.40 am, when a pedestrian, John Santan Fernandes of Zamblimol-Shristhal was struck by an interstate truck driven by Raghvendra Ayyer of Murudeshwar-Bhatkal, Karnataka.
The truck was proceeding from Kundapur-Karnataka towards Ratnagiri-Maharashtra. Fernandes succumbed to his injuries.
Incidentally, Fernandes, who is employed in the Gulf, was reportedly on vacation for the last four days. Further investigation is being conducted by LPSI Anjali Gaonkar.
