VALPOI
A shocking incident has come to light in Sattari taluka, where a stray cow's stomach was found to be filled with 48 kilos of plastic waste. The cow was rescued and taken to a local gaushala, where a team of veterinarians performed surgery to remove the plastic waste.
According to Dr Raghunath Dhuri, Veterinary Officer at the Gaushala, approximately 48 kgs of plastic waste were removed from the cow's stomach. The plastic waste included pieces of plastic pipes, building wire, and plastic bags. The cow's condition was critical due to the presence of such a large amount of plastic waste in its stomach.
The surgery was successful due to the efforts of Dr Dhuri and support of Amey Kuttikar and Dinesh Patil. After the surgery, the cow's condition has improved.
Dr Dhuri said it is a serious issue as plastic waste is frequently found in the stomachs of stray animals.
This problem is not limited to the Valpoi municipal area but is also becoming a significant concern in the panchayat areas.
The incident highlights the need for awareness about the importance of proper waste disposal and the dangers of plastic waste.
The incident has sparked a debate about the effectiveness of the government's initiatives to reduce plastic waste.
Despite efforts of local authorities to promote cleanliness and reduce plastic use, the problem persists. The gaushala's veterinarian has appealed to the local authorities to take serious note of the issue and implement effective measures to reduce plastic waste.
