The gram sabha meeting of the Guirdolim village panchayat questioned the status of the demand seeking vigilance probe into the controversial Grant in Aid works undertaken by the government in the village.

At the gram sabha chaired by Sarpanch Sonia Fernandes on Sunday, members demanded to know whether the Panchayat has written to the government on the vigilance probe into the works and whether the government has ordered any inquiry into the works.

Sarpanch Sonia explained to the members that the Panchayat had not only sent the gram sabha resolution to the government to order the vigilance probe into the GIA works, but had sent reminders on the matter.

After the Sarpanch pointed out that no action has been taken by the government till date, the gram sabha members told the Sarpanch to write a letter to the Cuncolim MLA and Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao to take up the matter in the upcoming Session of the Goa Legislative Assembly as a Starred question.

The gram sabha meeting also discussed the restricted water supply received in some parts of the village in the last few days.

Members also discussed the road under pass at the Chandor railway crossing, wherein the Sarpanch explained that the underpass has been repaired at the initiative of the Cuncolim MLA and not by the railways.  She said the road underpass was in bad shape and the same has been repaired at the initiative of the local MLA.
