KR to start special Mumbai-Goa train to handle summer rush

A sudden spike in travellers to Goa during the summer has prompted the Konkan Railway Corporation to introduce another special train which will run thrice a week between the Lokmanya Tilak Terminus and the Tivim stations.

KRC said the special summer train is being run in collaboration with the Central Railway only for the summer season. 

The special train numbered 01017 and 01018 on the return journey will depart from Lokmanya Tilak terminus every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday at 10.15 pm. The journey time is claimed to be 11-and-half-hours and will end at the Tivim railway station on the KR route at 9.50 pm. 

On its return journey, the train is numbered 01018 and leaves Tivim station at 4.35 pm every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.

This summer special train will make its maiden trip on Friday (April 27) from Lokmanya Terminus in Mumbai and will run until June 5.

According to KRC, this 17-coach train will have halts at Thane, Panvel, Roha, Mangaon, Veer, Khed, Chiplun, Sawarde, Sangameshwar Road, Ratnagiri, Aadvali, Vilavade, Rajapur Road, Vaibhavwadi Road, Kankavali, Sindhudurg, Kudal and Sawantwadi Road stations.
