Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections scheduled for May 7, Goa Police has further intensified security measures across the State and along its borders with the central paramilitary forces deployed at crucial polling stations to reinforce security.

Director General of Police Jaspal Singh stated that security personnel have been conducting flag marches in areas deemed sensitive besides carrying out other security measures since the enforcement of the code of conduct.

“Our forces are stationed throughout the State besides the Static Surveillance Teams, Flying Squads, and the CAPF. Border checkpoints are under stringent surveillance, equipped with CCTV monitoring,” he stated.

“Our staff is well-informed about security protocols and CAPF personnel are stationed (deployed as additional security arrangements) at critical polling stations.”

With a total of around 11.72 lakh eligible voters, comprising 5.78 lakh in North Goa and 5.93 lakh in the South, the voting for both parliamentary seats is scheduled on Tuesday.

Out of the total polling stations, the Chief Electoral Officer has designated certain booths as model, pink, and green stations, besides special booths for Persons with Disabilities.

In addition to these, areas with a history of criminal activity have been identified where the polling stations will witness the deployment of extra security forces to ensure a peaceful voting process.
