Even as a few locals participated at the Goa Velha gram sabha, on Sunday, various issues were discussed including the need for sterilization of dogs.
The locals pointed out the danger of stray dogs whose population is increasing in the village.
"Therefore there is a need to undertake sterilization of dogs to keep their population under check," said a local to which sarpanch Agnelo Fernandes assured to take up the issue with appropriate authorities.
The locals also took objection to the practice of feeding strays dogs by people in public places.
"This is an unhealthy practice and pose danger to locals who pass by during that time," a local informed.
The panchayat authorities said that feeding of dogs has to be done in consultation with the panchayat authorities and at designated areas.
"If anybody comes across people feeding dogs then they should inform the panchayat so that they are given a designated place to feed stray dogs," said panch Iyno D'Souza.
The issue of water logging at St Anthony ward was also discussed with the panchayat authorities stating that they have proposed a drainage to resolve the issue.
The issue of garbage on roadsides also came up for discussion along with building of a road in open space, among other issues.
