PORVORIM
A complaint has been filed with Porvorim police alleging that a mob assaulted and threatened Congress ZP candidate Eldrich D’Souza’s sister and her family in Donwaddo in Salvador do Mundo on December 22.
Divinya D’Souza, wife of former sarpanch and president of Bhandari Samaj Sanjeev Naik, along with their three daughters, Khushi Naik, Sanjona Naik, and Shradha Naik, as well as Shivanee Prabhudessai from Socorro, filed a complaint with Porvorim police stating that the incident took place between 10.05 pm and 10.35 pm at Donwado.
The complainants stated that a mob went to the house of Divinya D’Souza and her family and lit firecrackers, besides assaulting women and threatening the family. They claimed that the attack was politically motivated as Naik is actively involved in ‘Goa against Goonda Raj’ movement seeking justice in the Rama Kankonkar assault case.
The complainants claimed that several neighbours witnessed the incident having gathered after hearing loud explosions, shouting and commotion.
They claimed that the incident can be verified by examining CCTV footage from nearby establishments. They have sought offences to be booked against the accused under Sections 326, 191, 190, 189 and 74, 75 and 76 of BNS.
