The State government has warned its employees against engaging in professional anchoring and other private work, stating that such activities violate service conduct rules and adversely affect official performance.

In the circular issued, the government has warned to take disciplinary action against employees violating the directions.

The government said it has come to its notice that employees of government departments, corporations and autonomous bodies are involved in professional anchoring and similar activities, thereby impacting their dedication to official duties.

The circular draws attention to Rules 3 and 15 of the Central Civil Services (Conduct) Rules, 1964, which mandate that a government servant must devote full time to official work and is prohibited from engaging in any other business or employment without permission.

All heads of departments, corporations and autonomous bodies have been directed to ensure strict compliance with the conduct rules.

Employees have been instructed to desist from undertaking any professional work or business outside their official duties, failing which disciplinary action will be initiated under the CCS (Conduct) Rules, 1964.
