Goa Police have issued a look-out notice against Jagannath Bhagat, the prime accused in the sensational Saligao double murder case, as he continues to evade arrest nearly two months after the crime.
Bhagat is suspected to have brutally murdered Richard D’Mello, the owner of a music shop in Saligao, and his employee Abhishek alias Sonu Gupta. The shocking incident took place on November 6 last year and sent shockwaves across the coastal belt of Bardez.
According to police sources, both victims were found murdered in a rented room, prompting an intensive investigation by the Saligao police.
Jagannath Bhagat, who was known to the victims, was later identified as the main suspect based on circumstantial and technical evidence gathered during the probe.
Confirming the development, a senior police officer said that a look-out notice has been circulated to all police stations and border checkpoints.
“The accused has been absconding for a considerable period despite sustained efforts by multiple teams. A look-out notice has now been issued to trace and apprehend him at the earliest,” the officer said.
Police officials maintained that efforts are on to track the accused using technical surveillance and human intelligence.
