PWD Minister Digambar Kamat on Monday afternoon inspected the flyover roads from Sharayu–Toyota to Verna Junction, amid growing public concern over traffic bottlenecks and safety issues along the busy corridor.
The site inspection was carried out in the presence of Cortalim MLA Antonio Vas, who had sought the minister’s intervention to review the alignment and particularly the proposed bypass roads at Loutolim Junction and Kesarval Junction.
The visit was also attended by the sarpanch and panch members of the Village Panchayat of Quelossim, senior PWD officials and other representatives.
During the inspection, attention was drawn to traffic congestion at key junctions, commuter inconveniences and the need for smoother vehicular flow. Vas also stressed the importance of properly planned bypass roads to ease pressure on village roads and prevent accidents, especially during peak hours.
PWD officials briefed the minister on the present status of the works, design aspects and constraints on the ground. Kamat reviewed the issues raised and discussed possible technical solutions with the department, while directing officials to address bottlenecks and ensure timely execution of the project with minimal inconvenience to the public.
