It may be a David v/s Goliath kind of a battle with Revenue Minister Atanasio (Babush) Monserrate and his political ecosystem throwing its weight behind their Opponents but seven individuals are holding their ground campaigning against odds in the Taleigao panchayat election slated to be held on Sunday.

Domingos D'Cunha who is fighting from the general ward II says "it is a fight" while on his campaign rounds with a band of supporters.

A Laboratory Assistant in a city school, he is pitted against long-time Monserrate aide Agnelo D'Cunha.

This D'Cunha v/s D'Cunha battle promises to be the most interesting battle of the seven one-to-one contests in the 11-member panchayat which has been under the political shadow of the Monserrates.

All seven candidates are part of a 'Taleigaonkars United' who have joined hands in a bid to unshackle the political hegemony over the panchayat of the Monserrates.

An uphill task but AAP leaders Cecille Rodrigues and Francis Coelho, who are supporting the formation said, all have unitedly put their best effort and it is up to Taleigao's people to play their part.

Rodrigues said, she hoped the people will remember the manner in which farmers were disregarded by the Monserrate-led dispensation when paddy fields were taken over for the panchayat ghar during the pandemic and several other such atrocious decisions.
